A 3D model is only half the job: the shop floor still works from 2D manufacturing drawings. SOLIDWORKS drawing tools create these drawings directly from parts and assemblies, so views, dimensions and the bill of materials stay linked to the model and update when the design changes.
This 20-hour add-on course teaches you to produce clear, standard-compliant drawings in SolidWorks. You set up drawing templates and sheet formats, then place standard, projected, section, detail, auxiliary, broken-out and crop views. You add model items and smart dimensions, tolerances, surface finish and weld symbols, datums and geometric tolerances (GD&T), and create BOMs, balloons, hole tables and revision tables. You also learn assembly drawings, exploded views, and export to PDF and DWG. Everything is practised hands-on on the software with real part and assembly drawings, in the classroom at a CADD centre or in live online classes.
Drawing skills are essential for design engineers, CAD draughtsmen and checkers. The course pairs well with the GD&T course and other SolidWorks modules.
Students rate the course after they finish it — their ratings appear here.
They are the SolidWorks features used to make 2D drawings from 3D parts and assemblies: views, sections, dimensions, GD&T, tables, BOMs and balloons, all linked to the 3D model.
SolidWorks users from mechanical backgrounds can join, including students, draughtsmen and design engineers. You should know how to model parts and assemblies in SolidWorks.
This is a 20-hour add-on module focused on drawing templates, views, dimensions, GD&T, tables, assembly drawings and export.
Yes. Pick a classroom batch at a CADD centre or join live online SolidWorks Drawing Tools classes; online, you prepare real drawings on your PC while the trainer reviews them.
Yes. Your SolidWorks Drawing Tools certificate comes from CADD Training Centre and carries a QR code, so an engineering company can confirm it online in a few seconds.
Manufacturing, inspection and vendors still work from 2D drawings. Design engineers, CAD draughtsmen and checkers who make clear, correctly toleranced drawings are valued in every engineering company.
Yes. SolidWorks can save drawings as DWG or DXF, which open in AutoCAD and other CAD programs, and as PDF for sharing with people who do not have CAD software.
