Marvelous Designer is 3D clothing software in which you draft 2D garment patterns, sew them together virtually and watch them drape on an avatar with realistic fabric physics. Fashion brands and apparel export houses use it to create virtual samples and test fit before cutting real fabric, while 3D artists rely on it to dress characters for games, animation and films.
This 60-hour course for fashion design turns pattern knowledge into 3D garments. You start with the 2D pattern window, the 3D garment window and avatars, then draft panels with polygon, rectangle and curve tools, internal lines and darts. Segment and free sewing, arrangement points and simulation quality come next, followed by fabric physical properties for cotton, denim, silk and knits. You add folds, pleats, gathers, elastic, buttons, zippers and topstitching, and build complete garments such as shirts, jeans, skirts, dresses and lined jackets. Later sessions cover UV editing, prints and colourways, strain and stress fit maps, avatar motion, rendering, and export to OBJ, FBX and Alembic, ending with a 3D fashion collection. You learn hands-on in a CADD centre classroom or in live online classes and receive a CADD Training Centre certificate that is verifiable online.
Career paths include 3D garment designer, virtual sampling designer and 3D fashion artist. Basic garment construction knowledge helps but is not compulsory.
